What Is "Go Forward"?
Massugu ni Ikou (まっすぐにいこう。), based on the long-running manga by Kira (1993-2005), is a gentle, slice-of-life comedy
franchise that became a favorite among younger audiences in
Japan during the late 90s and early 2000s.
The story follows Mametaro, a lovable mixed-breed dog who
speaks, as he navigates everyday adventures with his beloved
owner, Ikuko, and his girlfriend, Hanako.
The anime adaptation was released in 2003 and 2004, with two seasons for a total of 9 episodes. The show is a nostalgic, character-driven series full of gentle humor and heart, which is perfect for fans of wholesome yet comedic animal-centric stories.
Donation Tiers
We’ve put together a few optional supporter tiers for those who’d like to be part of bringing this project to life, though contributions of any amount are deeply appreciated.
What Your Support Helps Us Do
This series has never received an official English dub or international release. For over 20 years, this franchise has remained largely out of reach for international audiences, despite the warmth and charm that made it so memorable to viewers in Japan.
Your contributions directly support:
-
Producing a professional dub, mixing, and post-production
-
Compensating voice actors and production staff
-
Hosting and distributing the series internationally
-
Creating behind-the-scenes and bonus content
-
Expanding to additional release territories with stretch goals
International releases don’t come around often for older anime, and
we want to change that. By supporting Massugu ni Ikou, you are helping ensure that smaller, character-driven stories aren’t lost to time. Your support helps bring Mametaro’s story to life for audiences who have never had the chance to experience it.
By supporting this project, you're helping us:
-
Preserve and revive a lesser-known anime classic
-
Introduce a new generation to a story that resonated with young audiences in Japan in the 1990s and 2000s
-
Give this series a chance to be loved by a global audience
Skyset Entertainment is committed to bringing lesser-known anime classics to life for new audiences. With the recent success in dubbing Prime Rose: A Time Slip of 10,000 Years, we aim to ensure that
Massugu ni Ikou will be handled with the care and quality it deserves.
